CSN: Babin hopes Eagles' defense turns nasty

September 15, 2011, 2:25 pm

Jason Babin recorded two sacks in the Eagles? opener against the Rams, but stats aren?t everything. Not to Babin.

He wants the Eagles to be a feared defensive unit. He wants to bring a nastiness to Philadelphia.

?Absolutely. There are not too many things that would make me happier than that,? Babin said with a smile. ?I want people to look at our defense, our line, our linebackers and our secondary and be like ?I don?t want to do it. I don?t want to run across the middle. I don?t want to drop back to pass.? Ideally, if someone asked me what I want for Christmas, that?s what I want. That?s what I want.?
With this Eagles defense, the nastiness will likely start with Jim Washburn's rotating defensive linemen.

The two focal-points of that line are Babin and fellow end Trent Cole.

Is there a sack competition between the two?

?We haven?t gotten anything official yet,? Babin said. ?The way sacks work, everybody is fighting everybody. I know Cullen [Jenkins] will push me out of the way and I?ll push Trent out of the way and so on and so forth. Sacks are hard to come by in this league so anyway you can get them.?

If you?re keeping track at home here are the early numbers: Babin 2, Cole 1, Jenkins 1.
