Jessica Lange returning to 'American Horror Story'

By Us Weekly

Get psyched for lots of Lange on season two of "American Horror Story."

After winning a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for her portrayal of campy villainess Constance Langdon on the first season of the creepy FX smash, Jessica Lange will return for season two, show creator Ryan Murphy tells EW.com.

But the 62-year-old actress won't be reprising the role of Constance, Murphy explained. Instead, the two-time Oscar winner will take center stage as a brand-new, to-be-revealed character.

"We have designed the second season of 'American Horror Story' completely around her character," Murphy said. "Last year Jessica came in with Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott. This will really be the Jessica Lange show so I'm very excited about it."

Unlike the legitimately evil, diabolical Constance, the new character will be "this amazing new opposite of the Constance," Murphy said, and Lange has been working closely with Murphy on the role.

"I really sweated this negotiation," said Murphy, "so I'm glad she is firmly on board."
