Not Being Able To Talk Because You Cannot Hear ? ArticleConstruct.com

Many kids in America, three million to be exact, suffer from hearing deficiencies. What these statistics fail to mention is that specific people who suffer from it. Many times there is no one to confirm if indeed Johnny Jones or Mary Smith will require special attention. The number of children that were tested in only select areas in the US were taken and applied to the total school population of children all over the country and this is who the American Hearing Society obtained the statistic. Children that live in the rest of the states that do not require hearing tests will go on with the rest of their lives not having been diagnosed with a hearing problem.

Without being aware of the hearing problems that they have, children will try hard to live normal lives despite having hearing impairments. Most of the time kids like these are seen to be inattentive, unmanageable, and even stupid. Not only are these kids afraid to tell others about what they are feeling but also because they assume they are normal. In line with this there was once a boy who was deathly afraid of telling anyone what he was suffering from. This kid is now silent most of the time due to a fever he suffered from when he was three.

He was then not able to follow instruction his parents would give to him. Being that he was not obedient his father would spank him. On the other hand his mother would just say he was not a disobedient boy but an absent minded one. The next time she told him to do something she almost shouted. When the boy heard her she went and did what he was told. Thus according to the other when something is emphasizing something he will do it.

In terms of school, the boy was not so much a team player. School was not at all a hard thing for him in terms of studies. The boy was residing in a state that really did not feel the need to compel doctors to check children for hearing problems. When he was 9 his town?s school board decided to institute audiometer tests.

After the test came the results showed a severe hearing disability that was because of the scarlet fever. He can now hear better with the use of a hearing aid. At the same time there are some medical ways that will aid his natural hearing.

In reality not every case will end in a positive note. Despite all the laws governing it and the proper test done, some cases will not have treatment. Currently someone from the New York League for the Hard of Hearing said that the problem indeed lies in the treatments. All there is to do is to get tested and then have a file on hand. Yet the root of the problem is in the follow up method. Even this may be too late to avoid permanent impairment. The one person that can actually sense these things is the mother. They should also do this even before the child goes to school. The only way that is most effective is to talk to the child from another room and judge their reaction. Yet some parents do not want to know the truth. There are now some tests that mothers can use each month to monitor their child?s hearing. Does your baby react to sudden noises like a telephone ringing, a door banging, loud clapping of hands, dogs barking? He should be able to, with normal hearing. If a baby will not react to a simple sound of your entering a room then they might have hearing problems. If your child has discharges or odors from your child?s ear, or deformities or swellings in or about the external ear canal then they might have a hearing problems. Reaction from another room when you are out of sight is one way of knowing their hearing is fine. When a child is talking properly then they can hear well. Without proper hearing a child will not be able to talk.
