Successful Business Marketing Tactics | Internet Marketing ...

e-mail marketing

Businesses advertise in all sorts of ways with some being far more effective than others. Exposure used to be the name of the game however; consumers have become far more educated and diverse with concern to their media viewing habits. Now Targeted Marketing is a much more effective method for reaching a specific group of people that you want to by your product or service.

What is Targeted Marketing?

Marketing in general is the processes that entities use to create, communicate, deliver and/or exchange products or services. When a company markets a product or service messages, activities and other efforts to advertise and brand the product or service are focused on a specific segment of people. This segment is known as the target audience. Businesses of all kinds have their own markets. For example, the target audience for two door sports sedans might be young urban professionals aged 18 to 25. In contrast, the target market for fish oil supplements might be individuals aged 50 and up. Targeted Marketing is simply the activities for appealing to and communicating with a company?s target audience.

Is Targeted Marketing effective?

Businesses need information about people in order to determine where their market resides, how to reach them and how best to communicate with them. For example if a company?s target market is persons aged 50 and up, social networking is probably not the best way to reach them. If a company?s target market were persons aged 18 to 25, it would be fruitless for a business to post advertisements inside senior centers. While these are very drastic examples, is can be confusing for organizations to find out exactly what their market is looking for and how to reach them.

It was once true that television was effective for reaching at least 80% of a business?s market. Now that the internet has advanced rapidly in the past decade, that number has shrunk. Internet has also changed target sales because of the sheer volume of information now available to advertisers. Companies can now learn about what their customers are clicking on, reading, and the types of sites they visit on the internet. Targeted Sales was effective before and is becoming more so every day.

For any business to be successful, it must find out all the information available about its market. This means things like how large it is, how it is comprised, and personal characteristics of it. Not knowing anything about the people you are selling to will mean that there is no direction for the company. Targeted Marketing allows businesses to narrow the potential field of customers that it can sell to in order to be efficient and productive. This is one of the most effective tactics for businesses to be successful.
