FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Family and friends said their final goodbyes Saturday to a Fort Wayne teenager who lost her battle with a rare form of bone cancer.
Back in February, 15-year-old Quinnasha Henderson fought to get the Department of Child Services and the courts to approve chemotherapy , but the cancer was too far along and she died in early September .
People at her funeral say they were proud and honored to have known her, our sister station WANE reports.
"She was a pillar of strength," said Tamyra Kelly, a spokesperson for East Allen County Schools . "She had a heart of determination. She was strong and she was determined. In spite of her circumstance, she still got out of bed in the morning."
Quinnasha was a good student and an active member in the youth chapter of the NAACP .
